Miami Dade College and Amazon launched AI for Social Good, a four week programme for the people who run nonprofits. It is administered through the AI Center, and I lead it together with Michael Mannino, Sheena Jhons and Guillermo Planos.
Who it is for, and what it changes
- An inaugural cohort of 25 executive directors, CEOs and board members from South Florida organisations.
- Four weeks of self-paced online learning, in-person workshops and personal office hours.
- Work on the problems a nonprofit actually has: donor engagement, programme evaluation, operational efficiency.
- Real cases from the South Florida nonprofit sector, not generic exercises.
The reason this sector is worth the effort: a nonprofit that saves a day a week on reporting spends that day on its mission, and it is the kind of organisation least likely to be sold AI that works.
